For the first time ever in Astana International Airport was handled 2 millionth passenger of 2012 year

This day, 30-th of November 2012, is especial day, because exactly today Astana International Airport has handled its 2 millionth passenger of 2012 year, by that exceeding the estimated number of passengers. This passenger is Mr. Evgeniy Zhuravlev from Almaty. The winner was declared after arriving Almaty-Astana flight number KC 851. In Astana 2 millionth passenger was met by representatives of “Astana International Airport” JSC with flowers and gifts. Mr Radilbek Adimolda, capital airport’s First vice-president, solemnly presented him LCD TV with home cinema. Moreover, Ms Gulmira Satbayeva, the representative of “Air Astana” JSC presented him 2 return airtickets to Beijing, where the national carrier flies. Mr Radilbek Adimolda, First vice-president of capital airport: “For the first time ever year passenger flow exceeded 2 million passengers. At first, this record figure was reached as a result of cooperation with airlines on the development of route net, moreover, due to the permanent improvement of airport services’ quality, business activity’s growth and development of tourism in the capital.”

Our airport constantly works over the attraction of foreign airlines, taking part in development of tourism in the Republic of Kazakhstan. We do our best to make the passengers’ stay in our airport more comfortable, increasing the service quality and providing new services. This year for passengers were placed additional payment terminals, excursion and tourist centre and a lot of other novelties. Capital airport is the visit card of the city. It is the first place where the foreign tourists, guests and citizens of the capital get, arriving in Kazakhstan; so, we want that every guest of our wonderful city get the most pleasant impression about our Airport. Moreover, we in our turn will continue doing our best to satisfy the needs of Astana airport’s passengers and airlines on the high capital level.

30-th of November 2012 will take place the meeting of 2 millionth passenger of Astana airport. According to the counting of the specialists the winning ticket will be taken by the passenger of morning flights. To overcome the barrier of 2 million passengers is significantly important event in the history of the Airport. Capital airport demonstrates confident development index due to dynamic development of route net, active interaction with foreign and local airlines, with operators of tourist markets, constant work over the improvement of services’ quality. The person who will be the 2 millionth passenger serviced in Astana airport will have pleasant surprises: valuable gifts from Astana airport and “Air Astana” airline. In this action will take part representatives of Astana Akimat, representatives of Transport and communication Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of Astana airport and “Air Astana” airline.

21st of November 2012 in Astana airport took place round table on the theme “Problems of autumn-winter period of navigation or how Astana International Airport and “Air Astana” airline has prepared to coming winter”. In this action took part representatives of Transport and communication Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of capital airport and “Air Astana” airline and representatives of media.  Alexander Bekmurzin, Managing Director of operations of JSC “Astana International Airport”, reported, that capital airport was absolutely ready for winter navigation, all necessary measures were conducted for providing quality service for airlines and passengers. “Air Astana” airline which performs more than 65 percent of air transportations from Astana airport also confirmed the readiness for winter navigation. Moreover in this action was paid great attention to the rights of passengers in the case of flights’ delays. Finally was conducted the press-tour where the process of aircraft’s preparing to the flight was shown, also demonstrative processing of the aircraft by de-icing fluid was conducted.

Planned actions for preparation to autumn-winter period of 2012-2013 years were conducted in Astana International Airport

One of the most important directions of activity of capital airport is improvement of passengers handling by means of flight delay’s prevention and increase of flight regularity. According to the statistics the main part of flight delay is appearing due to the later aircraft arrival. From Astana airport for 10 months of 2011 year 12 639 flights were performed, among them 11 067 flights were completed according to the schedule, 1 572 flights were delayed; regularity of flights is 86 percent. In current year for the same period 14 343 flights were performed, among them 10 307 scheduled flights were completed, 1 002 flights were delayed, regularity of flights is 90 percent. Planned actions for preparation to autumn-winter period of 2012-2013 years were conducted in Astana International Airport with the aim of safety and flights’ regularity ensuring. Within the framework of those actions the inspection of ground support equipment for winter maintenance of airfield and aircraft handling was conducted. These measures are assumed every year. This year the inspection was chaired by airport President K. Zhaukhanov. This inspection was conducted with the aim of identification of ground support equipment’s condition and its availability to the exploitation. As commission concluded all ground support equipment meet requirements, particularly, more than 30 units of snow-clearing equipments is ready to start working on the airfield. This quantity is enough to provide failure-free service of airport in coming winter. At the same time necessary quantity of reagents for processing of apron, runway and taxiway was prepared. Considering rigorous climate of our capital, when in winter the temperature is about -40, the regular maintenance of deicing equipment was conducted. To the beginning of winter season 8 special vehicles for aircraft processing with deicing liquid were prepared. Moreover the scheduled purchasing of deicing liquid for aircraft processing in sufficient volume for autumn-winter period was realized. Apron pavement was repaired with the aim of providing of flight safety; also, the marking of airfield and aircraft parking stand marking were renovated. In addition,the runway’s lighting system was repaired and technical maintenance of all transformer substations was conducted. Besides, for increasing of comfortable conditions for passengers in airport it were taken all measures for saving of thermal conditions in passengers’ terminals and providing of correct operations of heating system. Great attention is paid to safety in the airport. Additional training on the specifics of the activities in the autumn and winter navigation was carried out with personnel servicing ground support equipment. Furthermore for personnel of crash-rescue team training and practice on fire-extinguishing and conducting of search and rescue operations were organized. After completion of training the learners were examined. Full checking of automation system alarm and fire extinguishing system was realized; furthermore all measures for preparations of power supply system of the airport complex to the work in autumn-winter season were conducted. This complex of measures for preparation to winter allows to the capital airport to handle effectively and regularly passengers and aircrafts even in the most severe weather conditions.

Dear passengers,

Since 31, October 2012 “Air Arabia” airline opens direct charter program to Sharjah (UAE) city from Astana International Airport with the frequency of performance of two flights a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Departure time from Astana is 3:40 p.m., arrival time is 5:15 p.m. Flights will be performed by modern aircraft Airbus 320.
