International Airport Astana was founded in 1931 as not large airport for small aircraft handling. Nowadays, after 80 years, it’s one of the most modern airports on the Eurasian continent. There are about 40 flights every day to CIS and non-CIS states regions.

Airport renders services for more than 15 airlines, which perform regularly passenger flights to CIS and non-CIS states. They are: “Air Astana”, “Scat”, “Avia Zhainar”, “Zhetysu”, “Transaero”, STC “Russia”, “Lufthansa”, “Etihad airways”, “Austrian airlines”, “Turkish airlines”, “O’zbekiston Havo Yo’llari”, “Aerosvit” and the others. Every year one or two air companies open new routes in airport Astana.

This year since 25^th of April, airline “Aerosvit” has begun to operate flights to Kiev-city, Ukraine and since 7^th May 2009, airline ”Etihad airways”, to capital of UAE – Abu-Dabi.

There are regularly flights to all regional centers of Kazakhstan and to the cities of CIS such as: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Minsk, Tashkent, Baku, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad. And there are also flights to far-abroad countries: Frankfurt, Vienna, Hanover, Antalya, Abu-Dabi, Dubai, and Istanbul. In 2008, airport rendered services for 1 mln 316 thousand passengers and handled 5 217 ton of cargo.

Nowadays, airport Astana has capability receive all types of aircraft without any limits. With a view to develop the quality of the airport services till European standards, Airport Astana has introduced Quality System Management in accordance with international standards ISO 9001:2000. The Development of airport Astana is carried out in accordance with international standards of IATA (InternationalAirTransport Association) and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). Airport is a member of the international organization as Ground Handling Council IATA. The favorable conditions are made for cooperation with new airlines, as for cargo and passenger one.

Airport’s advantage is the geographic location, which is in the middle of Eurasia and this very location attracts foreign airlines.

Airport Astana is certificated as IIIA category of ICAO standards.  Installed modern equipment gives possibility to dispatchers of tower to find out, identify and escort aircraft and special techniques on the flight field, which screens on the towerman’s monitor. It allows to control and provide safety of traffic on the aerodrome at bad visibility. Now airport Astana can accept and dispatch aircraft with runway visibility till 200 meters and more, аs for the past period the meteorological minimum of aerodrome was 350 meters. Even,  if it is rainy or windy, airport Astana gives possibility to aircraft to make safe landing at horizontal visibility only 200 meters and vertical  - 15.

Airport Astana makes all efforts to make the passengers comfortable in the airport, and offers new services in the terminal. In 2009, the second “Duty Free” shop, pharmacy, restaurant “Albatros”, flower’s store, café “Coffee yard”, and call-center were opened for passengers. Airport Astana offers the most comfortable conditions for its passengers: CIP and VIP lounges, 2 mother and baby rooms, 3 prayer rooms, baggage office, and smoking room in departure halls. During the flight waiting time, passengers are welcomed at restaurants, cafes and bars. The passengers can also use post services, cash machine of different banks, exchange money. You can buy tickets at Airport’s or airlines’ cash-desks, which are located on the 2^nd floor. There are many stores of national souvenirs, where you can buy gifts for yourself or for your friends. There is also parking-place for passenger’s personal cars. Capital airport is the visit card of the State and it makes all efforts to give good impression for their visitors.
